Digital RAW photography on the left edited to match the colours/ tones of the negative film scan on the right, Kodak portra 160NC. A bright one! On my monitor this is light but in my opinion does not look overexposed, gamma calibrated to 2.2 6500k. So if you can call it bright, I will also use words like soft, peachy and creamy. This film simulation brought to my attention the seemingly random nature of film. For example grey tones, the grey of the roof just above the glass has a slightly warm flash across it whilst the fluff on the jacket is a cool, more cyan based colour. I did no physical retouching on the skin tones, just by improving the the tones and colour it instantly perks up tired looking digital RAW skin tones. A major downfall in the digital RAW file can be seen in the harsh blown out highlights, even though the subject is underexposed. The linear sensor struggles in these kind of contrast of light conditions.
